Biography

Dr. Zimu Zhou is currently an assistant professor at the School of Data Science (SDSc), City University of Hong Kong. He received his Ph.D. in 2016 in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), and his B.E. in 2011 in the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University. From 2016 to 2019, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Computer Engineering and Networks Laboratory, ETH Zurich. From 2020 to 2022, he was an assistant professor at the School of Computing and Information Systems (SCIS), Singapore Management University (SMU).

Research Interests/Areas

Dr. Zhou works on mobile and ubiquitous computing, with a focus on AIoT (AI + IoT). The vision is to integrate sensing, computing and decision-making into everyday IoT systems for intelligent individual and urban services. He designs algorithms and software to enable efficient, scalable, and high-fidelity perception and reaction on resource-constrained IoT platforms and systems. His research adopts an interdisciplinary approach and draws insights from mobile systems, machine learning, and domain sciences. Some on-going research topics include:
