The optimization of organic electroluminescence device

    Abstract

    The organic electroluminescence (EL) device is a new kind of flat panel display. EL devices are constructed using multilayer organic thin films. The basic structure consists of a hole-transport layer and an electron-transport luminescent layer. Under a forward dc bias, charges will be transported and recombined at the luminescent layer and emit light. In order to obtain EL devices with high efficiencies, optimization of the fabrication parameters is essential. In this study, the optimization of the EL device are mainly concentrated on the purity effects and effects of deposition rates of 8-hydroxyquinoline Aluminum (Alq3) on device efficiencies and thermal annealing of organic EL devices. Base on the optimized EL device's parameter, blue organic EL devices have been fabricated in which the emission layer (EML) is doped with a highly fluorescence dopant. Three kinds of series of dopants are used. Owing to different substituents in the molecule, different PL and EL performances have been obtained. Red organic EL devices have been made with the triple layer configuration. A red light emitting organic material was inserted in between the hole transporting layer and electron transporting layer.
