Abstract
Simple folded-patch antennas fed by an L-shape probe are designed and studied experimentally. This simple antenna structure with thick air substrate attains a projection-length reduction of about 30% with reference to the conventional half-wave patch antenna. This antenna attains an impedance bandwidth of 35% and a gain of 6 dBi. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
