Abstract

Water vapor transmission (WVT) and water resistance (WR) are two important properties of functional textile for thermo-physiological comfort to the human body. Water vapor transmitting ability will maximize the comfort level of the human body when the body is in active mode, and water resistant textile will protect our body from rain. In this study, we propose a laminated fabric with both water resistant and water vapor transmission property. As we found that, this kind of laminated fabric have good mechanical property. Our synthesized segmented polyurethane membrane and its laminated fabric has low water vapor transmitting ability at low temperature or low relative humidity and high water vapor transmitting ability at high temperature or high relative humidity.
