Abstract

Two-color vacuum ultraviolet (VUV)-infrared (IR) photoinduced Rydberg ionization (PIRI) experiment was discussed. Tricholoroethene and trans-2-butene were studied in the experiment. The results show that VUV-IR-PIRI spectra is independent of effective principal quantum number. It was also found that the Rydberg electron behaves as a spectator during the excitation process.
