Abstract
In this paper we are to present an object-oriented system based on a conceptual building model for handling architectural information during early design phases. This system and model can be used for representing both different levels of abstraction and relationships inherited in the architectural information during design. The fist part of this paper describes the difficulties for representing architectural design information. Then we give a description of the conceptual model and applying a conceptual building model for representing design information. Next we introduce an experimental object-oriented cost control system, OBCIS, based on the conceptual building model to demonstrate our approach. Finally, we provide some preliminary findings from the experiment for further exploration in future.
