Abstract
In response to the “minimal effects” paradigm within the Internet context, this article explicates the underlying assumption that selective exposure is more attainable online. It contends that extended exposure, either intentional or unintentional, do exist online, while Internet’s features facilitate the exposure strategy. Furthermore, the likelihood of side-tracked exposure occurs frequently online, which, together with the extended exposure, moderates the effects of selective exposure and thus mitigates media effect imposed on the audience.
