Abstract
Due to the densely populated population and prolonged life expectancy, Hong Kong is facing a serious problem of ageing. The establishment of environmental characteristics is extremely important for elders who spend most of their time in the community, and the former determines the degree of success and quality of life of the latter. This study surveyed 180 elders in 6 communities in different regions. Land mix, street connectivity and other data used to quantify the environment; sedentary, walking, moderate and severe physical activity time is used to quantify behavior. The results show that some of the environmental characteristics, such as the availability of commercial and recreational space, affect the physical activity of the elderly in Hong Kong.
