The works of Mikhail Bakhtin clearly occupies a key position in the development of fields such critical theory, and his theories have been underused in the realm of translation studies. This article reviews a number of key concepts from Bakhtin, exploring such issues as the relationship of Bakhtinian theory to other approaches, and assesses the potential for considering translation using such concepts.
