Abstract
Fuzzy systems have been developed for more than two decades. Recently there appeared a number of results of fuzzy systems regarding to function approximation and dynamic system control. To enrich the fundamental basis of analysis, this paper shows that fuzzy systems are universal approximators and universal controllers. We first gave a unified framework of fuzzy systems in the sense that the global fuzzy system is ″fuzzy″ combination of local systems. Based on the frameworks, we discussed the problems of universal approximators and universal controllers and then constructed the proofs.
