Abstract
A views on how the Internet is transforming Chinese society are discussed. The focus is also given on growth of online activities in China, web enabled mobile phones, short message services and multiplayer online role-playing games. Knowledge management is considered as an important foundation for effective IT applications in China. It is stated that wide-ranging functionality of IT inevitably raise ethical and social concerns, particularly in a country with an unequal distribution of power.
