Abstract
For delay-sensitive applications, codewords become outdated with a diminishing amount of information as they age. In this paper, the above information aging process is incorporated into the characterization of information output rate, a combined measure of information timeliness and reliability. The analysis shows that by optimally tuning the information encoding rate of codewords, the maximum information output rate may significantly drop when the information ages fast, indicating a high penalty caused by the information aging process. © 2025 IFIP.
