Tourism management in China since Deng Xiao-ping adopted the open-door policy in 1978 has been evolving on the previous experience of the western market economy. Due to scarcity of resources, Zhang (1995) designated tourism the policy in the pre 1978 communist era a political one. After Deng Xiao-ping and Chen Yun emphasized that earnings in tourism would be an important means of accumulating foreign exchange, the Chinese government began to acknowledge the economic value of tourism for a country. Upon construction of various community infrastructures such as the transportation infrastructure, market economy entrepreneurial spirit serves to motivate individual to maximize contribution to own interests and thus to the economy. It comes the time for the philosophy of customer-oriented management to sustain the momentum of the strength of market economy to fuel tourism development in China . copied from conference name: Conference on Development and Succession of Chinese Management (Conference title in Chinese, article in English)
