Abstract

The complexity of chaotic dynamics is closely related to different measures of the associated dimensions. Based on rate-equation simulations, the correlation dimension of a semiconductor laser with a combination of optical injection and optical feedback is calculated. Numerically, the correlation dimension is investigated in the parameter space of injection strength and feedback strength. It is found that, by properly choosing the optical injection and feedback strength, the correlation dimension of the laser can be tuned within 5.0 and 18.0. The investigation shows that both the correlation dimension and the time-delay signature can be varied for delivery over fiber.
