Abstract

This paper proposes a Time-Frequency image coding technique, which divides the image into a combination of the time and frequency components and then codes them separately. The key algorithm is to locate the sharp edges in both the horizontal and vertical directions, and to select a threshold size for which the sharp edges are to be coded. Although the image is now coded in two separate domains, the total components to be coded are reduced.
