TIME-FREQUENCY ANALYSIS OF VIBROMYOGRAM IN RABBIT GASTROCNEMIUS MUSCLE

Research output: Journal Publications and ReviewsRGC 21 - Publication in refereed journalpeer-review

Abstract

The vibromyographic (VMG) signals. In company with isometrical muscle of rabbit gastrocnemius were elicited electrical stimulation in sciatic nerve. The time-frequency analysis method was adopted to analyze the VMG signals. The changes in the maximum frequency and the root mean squared (RMS) value of the VMG signals from each individual twitch were analyzed during the fatigue protocol A parameter, λ=f2/T was introduced to indicate the muscle fatigue, where f is the maximum frequency of the VMG and T is the maximum force of the corresponding muscular twitch. The results of this study show that the RMS of VMG changes consistently with the twitch force while the parameter λ may be a useful index to indicate the level of muscle fatigue.
