Abstract
A series of solid-solution crystals: GdxY1-xCa4O(BO3)3 (x=0-0.4) were grown by Czochralski method and their critical phase-matching-angles of third-harmonic-generation (THG) of Nd:YAG laser (1064 nm) were measured. The non-critical phase-matching (NCPM0 of THG can be realized in Gd0.37Y0.63Ca4(BO3)3 (GYCOB) crystal along the principal Y-axis. The THG experiments of the Y-cut GYCOB crystal with the length of 11 mm was performed by using Q-switched Nd:YAG laser and the conversion efficiency of crystal from 1064 nm to 355 nm was 14.7%.
