Abstract
Thermal tuning of polymer optical fiber (POF) Bragg gratings was investigated. Bragg gratings for thermal tuning were created in polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) based polymer fibers. The tuning range of more than 18 nm, over a temperature variation of 50 °C, was found to be larger than that required by silica fiber gratings. Thermal hysteresis effect was not observed as the gratings were heated up and cooled down.
