Abstract
We consider a dilute granular jet colliding with an oblique planar wall. Collisions between particles and collisions between particles and the wall are inelastic. We derive an exact solution for the mean force experienced by the wall for dilute jets. We show that the mean force on the wall can be a non-monotonic function of the angle between the wall and the jet. This occurs because particles that rebound from the wall can collide with incoming particles and be scattered. © 2009.
