Abstract

Even though the multirate system has reached a certain level of maturity, there do remain certain open questions and research problems of considerable interest. One of the problems is the requirement of the nonexistence unified analytic technique that can be used to characterize any multirate systems. The problem can be solved by means of spectral analysis introduced in this paper. Spectral analysis is any signal processing method that characterizes the frequency content of a measured signal. With this unified characterization technique, it helps to simplify any investigation to multirate systems by providing an analytic technique. After this chapter, multirate system can be tested mathematically before they were built rather than tedious trail and error. An analysis on the rate-distortion bound of multirate system is discussed in this paper to demonstrate the importance of the developed theory. © 1992 IEEE.
