Abstract

The Lighthouse Heritage Research Connections（LHRC）是PATCH其中一個計劃，我們旨在組織實地研究、會議/研討會啟發學生以創新和跨學科方式探索燈塔的歷史、價值和文化意義，並致力製作紀錄片，讓公眾共享研究成果。
「自厦而東者，則左西嶼而轉以抵臺；自臺而西者，則右西嶼而轉以抵厦。」根據臺灣文獻史料叢刊第一輯的澎湖廳志顯示，早於二百多年前，往來厦門與台灣的航道已經成形，而西嶼燈塔亦因此在1777年被建造以協助船隻航行，其後約90年來，舊塔燈像巨人一樣站立在西嶼外塹，堅守著導航使命。
藉著廣泛的文獻研究下，香港城市大學梁嘉豪同學成功整合不同的歷史資料，將西嶼燈塔以數位電腦技術建立出三維模型，並在第十七屆澎湖研究國際學術研討會上，向與會者展示西嶼燈塔的結構和設計，在研討會中，梁同學清楚指出要追溯歷史上消失的遺址，必先透過現今的科技協助及精密分析，從而一步一步將遺址還原，從而了解西嶼寶塔的尺寸、高度、寬度和方向。
在第十七屆澎湖研究國際會議上，城市大學研究組與台灣考古學家臧振華教授會面，希望透過他對有關海洋沉船的調查結果，能得到更多的研究方向及資料。在得到考古專家的加入，我們相信，未來更多有關中國古燈塔的研究會慢慢從歷史當中浮現，就讓我們期待著吧!
