Abstract
The concept of reciprocity, originally formulated in the field of social anthropology, has become one of the key ideas in contemporary critical theory. This presentation describes its implications and possible interpretations, and traces its influence on contemporary theorists, in order to suggest possible ways of rethinking the direction of the free software and open source movements.
