The mediating role of team processing on individual creative characteristics and team creative performance in Hong Kong creative professionals

Abstract

The study adopted a cross sectional approach to investigate the relationships among team creative performance, individual creative characteristics and team processing in creative professionals from a media corporation in Hong Kong. Participants included 450 participants (305 male and 145 female) with an average age of 29 years old and on or above secondary level of education. Factor analysis has yielded 4 factors in team processing, including creative team strategy, importance of teamwork, clarity of expectation, and distraction from goal. Results from hierarchical regression revealed that team processing (creative team strategy and importance of teamwork) and individual conception of creativity (novelty and usefulness) were significant predictors of creative team performance after controlling age, gender, educational attainment, and work experience.
