Abstract

Drawing on dual concern theory, we contribute to the relational job crafting literature by testing self-oriented job crafting motive and other-oriented job crafting motive as two independent predictors of relational job crafting. Further, given that individuals may have high concern for both self and others, we examine the interactive effect of both self- and other-oriented job crafting motives on relational job crafting. We also present a moderated mediation model that demonstrates how other-oriented job crafting motives can enhance or constrain the indirect effect of self-oriented job crafting motives on organizational citizenship behavior via relational job crafting. The theoretical and practical implications of our research are discussed.
