Abstract
In this paper, an enhanced local radial basis function collocation method (LRBFCM) is introduced for establishing the band structure of anti-plane elastic waves in two-dimensional (2D) periodic defective nano phononic crystals. The proposed work considers the size effects based on the nonlocal elasticity theory. The direct method is adopted to enhance the stability of derivatives related to stress. A simple and efficient summation algorithm based on LRBFCM is applied for determining the integrations of nonlocal stresses. Because very few numerical studies are available for nano phononic crystals, the new proposed method is validated by considering frequency response. Various acoustic impedance ratios, scatterer shapes, and defects are analyzed in this work. The influencing characteristics of both holes and cracks on the band structure of nano phononic crystals are fully investigated. © 2025 Elsevier Inc.
