Abstract

In this paper, we present an open resonator antenna (ORA) operating at terahertz frequency. The proposed antenna which is based on open resonator theory consists of a spherical concave ground, a flat partially reflective surface (PRS) and a fifth-order height dielectric cavity. Fundamental Laguerre-Gaussian beam mode-HE11 mode is excited. A 16.5 dBi realized gain with -12 dB side lobe in E-plane and -15 dB in H-plane is obtained at central operating frequency-307 GHz. This high-gain but simple structure antenna shows great application potential in many terahertz systems.
