Abstract
This piece is a collage/pastiche of poetry, (surrealist) automatic writing and expository fragments from the author's personal journal, research notes and artist's statements. The experimental form is meant to investigate the nature of writing as here-and-now articulation of self and the surroundings that turn an invisible mindscape into communicable forms. Writing is thus about chance encounters, nonsense as sense, soundings and movement of consciousness, highlighting the thought process, allowing expression, critique, description and imagination to convert as a rich sensory experience. This collage-poem is by invitation as both creative writing and a meta-annotation to a special issue by Melbourne-based literary magazine GOING DOWN SWINGING on photo-text dialogues among 16 artists/writers in Hong Kong and Melbourne. In addition, Linda Lai is also Associate Editor of the issue to offer advise on the bi-lingual texts.
The project was supported by the City of Melbourne Arts Grants Program.
