Abstract

This conceptual paper proposes a conceptual framework of how the degree of team members actively taking another’s perspectives in heterogeneous teams were related to both the development of team shared mental models and team performance. I propose that educational, functional and gender diversity will negatively related to shared mental models and team performance, and the negative effects will be attenuated by team perspective-taking; while tenure and age diversity will be positively associated with shared mental models and team performance, and the positive effects will be strengthened by team perspective-taking.
