Abstract

In recent past, significant improvements have been made towards understanding of domain wall contributions to the piezoelectric properties of lead zirconate titanate (PZT) under subcoercive cyclic fields. More recently direct characterization of the magnitude and kinetics of domain wall displacements in different ferroelectric phases have been made possible by development of time-resolved x-ray diffraction capabilities. Synthesis of high quality single phase materials is a prior necessity for conducting such experiments in PZT ceramics. Here we report successful synthesis of doped and undoped PZT ceramics of different crystallographic phases with good structural properties. © 2008 MS&T'08®.
