Abstract
The reactions of the closo-sulfido osmium carbonyl cluster compounds Os4(CO)12(μ3-S), I, and Os5(CO)15(μ4-S), II, with H2S yield the open cluster compounds H2Os4(CO)12(μ3-S)2, III, and H2Os5(CO)14(μ3-S)2, IV, in yields of 55% and 94%, respectively. In each reaction one H2S molecule has been converted into a triply bridging sulfido ligand and two hydride ligands. © 1983 American Chemical Society.
