Abstract

Nanocrystalline BaTiO3 particles in various media were synthesized by a refluxing method. It was found that BaTiO3 nanocrystals can be formed by refluxing of precursor precipitate in toluene, n-butanol, tert-amyl alcohol and water. These nanocrystals were identified as metastable cubic phase BaTiO3 by X-ray diffraction and FT-Raman. FTIR data shows that BaTiO3 powders prepared in non-aqueous refluxing media have less -OH content.
