Abstract

High aspect ratio copper nanowires encapsulated in poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) were synthesized under mild conditions and without the use of any solvent. The vapor-solid reaction growth (VSRG) process was shown to be a simple solvent-free reduction of solid CuCl by vapor phase (Me3Si)4Si.
