Abstract
CeO 2 nanocubes and CeO 2 truncated octahedra have been synthesized with different capping agents in the alkaline environment. The CeO 2 nanocubes present enhanced catalytic properties in CO catalytic oxidation, which may be due to the existence of more coordination of unsaturated cerium atoms and more active adsorption of dissociated oxygen species on the CeO 2 (100) surface. © 2012 The Royal Society of Chemistry.
