Abstract

In this paper, synchronization of networked multi-agent system with sampling communications is investigated. We are particularly interested in the effect of different topologies on the maximum allowable sampling period for communications between agents so that synchronization is guaranteed, aiming to provide some guidelines in practical designs. The synchronization problem is firstly managed by the linear matrix inequality (LMI) method, and the maximum allowable sampling period is then obtained as a solution of an optimization problem. The feasibility of this approach is demonstrated with simulations, and the impacts of the topological structure on the maximum allowable sampling period on agent communications are reported. © 2010 IEEE.
