Abstract

Sustained Signage #2 is part of a series of animations by Don Ritter that depict issues of sustainability through prohibitive text and pictographic imagery. Three separate animations have been created, and each is being distributed online to the public through YouTube. The targeted cities include Hong Kong, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Toronto. Only English speaking cities have been selected because of the language used in the animations. The length of each animation is approximately 35 seconds. YouTube lists the number of view rates for each animation that is viewed more than 30 seconds. Distribution of the Sustained Signage animations through YouTube began on 1 June 2016. Each animation is now being viewed from 2,000 to 10,000 times per day.
