Abstract
Web archiving for preserving the valuable information online from disappearing due to the dynamic nature of the World Wide Web, and web annotation for promoting the development of the Web as a two-way information sharing platform are both active research fields. However, in spite of their common benefits to information management and intelligent learning, few attempts have been made to integrate web archiving and web annotation. This paper introduces Surfing Notes, a cloud-based system which allows the users to annotate and archive the web pages for personal use. The change detection algorithm as well as the change detection interval scheduler are discussed in detail and evaluated experimentally. © 2012 IEEE.
