Abstract

This paper considers the mechanical behavior of coarse-grained and ultrafine-grained (UFG) Ti-6Al-4V ELl during tension at elevated temperature (500-800). The combination of severe plastic deformation induced by equal-channel angular pressing (ECAP) followed by extrusion considerably enhanced the superplastic behavior of Ti-6Al-4V ELl. The elongation of the alloy was 286% at =700, = 10-2 s-1 and 516% at =800, = 10 -2 s-1. The UFG Ti-6Al-4V ELl processed by tensile strain at 500 and at = 10-2 s-1 was found to have a high strength of 1500 MPa at room temperature.
