Abstract
By using a computationally efficient and accurate numerical method, the flexural vibrations of triangular composite plates are investigated for the effects of fibre orientation, plate aspect ratio and boundary conditions. Natural frequencies of the plates are determined using the newly developed orthogonal plate function generated by the Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization process in the Rayleigh-Ritz procedure. The frequency parameters obtained using the proposed method for the composite plate are presented. Some numerical results obtained for simple isotropic triangular plates compare very favourably with existing numerical and analytical results. © 1989.
