Abstract

Nanodiamond cone arrays were prepared by bias-assisted reactive ion etching (RIE) of microcrystalline and nanocrystalline diamond films. It was found that the cone density depended strongly on the etching conditions and can be tuned. The results showed that the low-density nano-diamond cone arrays have better field electron emission (FEE) than high-density cone arrays.
