Abstract
Prefabricated concrete sandwich panels (PCSPs) consist of two concrete wythes and a thermal insulation layer between them. They have great potential to be used for prefabricated building construction. This paper experimentally studies the development of a new PCSP system. The two exterior wythes are made of FRP- reinforced geopolymer concrete while FRP tubular connectors are used to realize the composite action. The reported tests include: (1) the structural performance of FRP tubular connectors; (2) the structural performance of steel and BFRP rebar reinforced geopolymer concrete one-way slabs; (3) the structural performance of the formed sandwich wall panels subjected to out-of-plane loading. Due to its green feature and its structural efficiency, the developed PCSP system may find wide applications in prefabricated construction which is popular in Hong Kong and the rest of China. © 2019 9th International Conference on Fibre-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) Composites in Civil Engineering, CICE 2018.
