Abstract

Single phase Ba(Mg1/3Ta2/3)O3 films were prepared on Si (100) substrates and a fused silica substrate by pulsed laser deposition. The structure and annealing properties of these films were studied by the x-ray θ-2θ scan. The wavelength dependence of the transmittance of the films deposited on fused silica was determined. The refractive index was calculated from the transmission spectrum. The quadratic electro-optic effects of the film were successfully measured to be 8.35×10-18 m2 V-2 by the differential detection method at 6328 angstroms.
