STRESS-STRAIN MODEL FOR ECCENTRICALLY LOADED FRP-REPAIRED CONCRETE COLUMNS

Research output: Chapters, Conference Papers, Creative and Literary Works › RGC 32 - Refereed conference paper (with host publication) › peer-review

Abstract

Extensive research has shown that confining concrete structures with steel or fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) is an effective way of enhancing and restoring the strength and ductility of damaged concrete columns. However, an eccentric stress-strain model for pre-damaged and subsequently repaired concrete is not available for design of the repair works. This may be largely due to the compilations and nature of the problem. An experimental and analytical investigation previously unavailable is undertaken in this work to study the mechanical behavior of eccentrically loaded FRP-repaired predamaged concrete columns. The analytical study in this study examines and identifies the key parameters that affect the mechanical behavior of eccentrically loaded FRP-repaired concrete columns. Based on a comprehensive analysis of the test results, a new stress-strain model for the mechanical response of eccentrically loaded FRP-repaired concrete columns is developed. Test results further verify the proposed model. The new model thus established is capable of predicting the mechanical response of eccentrically loaded FRP-repaired concrete columns with good accuracy.
