Abstract

A numerical study is reported for simulating the thermalhydraulic mixing phenomena of cold and hot flows with intersecting angle of 60 degree . A computer program was developed for this unsteady, three dimensional turbulent flow and heat transfer problem. SUDS/UDS numerical schemes and streamline curvature modification are adapted to the standard double prime k- epsilon prime two-equation model of turbulence in computation for the affections of flow recirculating and numerical diffusion. Selected test conditions of experiments done by EPRI/CREARE are calculated to examine the effects of new approaches. The predictions consist of velocity and temperature fields and good agreements are obtained.
