Abstract

This is a short version (59 minutes) of feature documentary Storm under the Sun (2009, 139 minutes). This version was especially made by director S. Louisa Wei for screening in the event titled "Literary Dissent under the Chinese Communists: The Hu Feng Affair" co-organized by Verso (publisher), English Pen, and London School of Economics and Political Science, on November 6, 2014. Dr. Chun Lin of LSE introduced guest speakers Mr. Zhang Xiaoshan (--Hu Feng's younger son and an expert in China's rural development) and Professor Gregor Benton (who won a translation award from English Pen for translating the biography of Hu Feng by his wife Mei Zhi). They both talked and received questions from floor, together with director Wei.
