Abstract
It has been shown that a nonorthogonal stagnation flow is linearly stable with respect to three-dimensional disturbances in the form of Eq. (11). The stability characteristics are identical to those describing orthogonal stagnation flow. The stagnation line changes shape due to presence of disturbances, and this is in contrast to the case of orthogonal stagnation flow where the stagnation line remains straight. The form of the disturbance flowfield is a function of the nonorthogonality of the mean flow, and this may lead to interesting nonlinear interaction phenomena. A similar analysis has been carried out in the case of a nonorthogonal attachment line flow. Results show that the stability characteristics are also not affected by the nonorthogonality of the mean flow. © 1992 American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Inc., All rights reserved.
