Abstract
This study utilized a Computerized Axial Tomography Scanner (CATSCAN) to measure the spatio-temporal evolutions of solids fraction in the gravitational sediments of the kaolin slurries and the UK ball clay slurries. Based on the obtained CATSCAN data the solids velocities in the consolidating sediment were evaluated. The local solids flux was noted not dependent solely on the local solids fraction as commonly assumed in the traditional solids flux-based theories.
