title = "Soft Fall Detection Using Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave Radar And Regional Power Burst Curve",
abstract = "The worldwide aging tendency arises the demand for technologies that can detect fall motions of elder people. The radar-based methods are considered one of the optimum solutions to indoor fall detection problems. In this paper, a millimeter-wave frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar-based fall detection method using the regional power burst curve (rPBC) is proposed. The soft fall motions, which were not considered in most previous literature, are studied. A support vector machine (SVM) is used to distinguish fall motions from others. The experimental results prove the feasibility of the proposed method in detecting soft and sudden fall motions. {\textcopyright} 2022 IEICE.",
