Abstract

We propose a novel design for symmetric single-mode 1×3 integrated optical branching circuits as optical power dividers using relatively low-index phase-front accelerator regions in the Y-branch structures. By varying the location and the area of such regions, an equally distributed power can be obtained at the three output ports.
