Simulation of bandwidth enhancement on the quarter-wave shorted patch by adding a shorting pin

Abstract

Bandwidth enhancement on quarter-wave shorted patch by a shorting pin approach was studied. Simulation results were demonstrated by the simulation software package, IE3D 7.0. The package showed that antenna matching and the resonant frequency were very sensitive to the shorting pin. It was found that the shorting pin gave a bandwidth enhancement when placed between the shorting edge and the feed.
