Abstract

The Taste of Missing: Phoebe Man Solo Exhibition
"Seen/Unseen Hong Kong" is a video installation that responds to Andrei Tarkovsky's 1983 film "Nostalghia". She was particularly impressed by the last section of the film, where the protagonist walks through the hot springs holding a candle. It is said that if the candle does not burn out, the world can be saved. Candlelight can symbolize light, wisdom, remembrance, the passage of time and hope. Phoebe Man used a video installation to respond to this part of the film. There were different reflective objects in front of the projected image, which were both an obstacle and a help. The image was obscured, and more light was reflected at the same time.
